What is White Runtz?
White Runtz is a selection from the Runtz line, the Zkittlez × Gelato cross popularized in California by the Runtz crew and the Cookie Fam. It stands out for its very white, trichome-heavy flowers, which gave it the name.
Runtz became one of the defining candy strains of the last decade, and White Runtz is one of its best-known variants. Customers search for it by name, and the frosty look sells on product pages and in-store.
Zkittlez, one parent, is known for its mixed-fruit candy profile, while Gelato brings cream, structure and resin. White Runtz keeps both and adds the striking white frost that makes it easy to spot. It is one of several Runtz variants, next to Pink Runtz and others.
Aroma and terpene profile
Our lot of White Runtz smells of creamy fruit syrup and sweet, sugary candy. Zkittlez brings the mixed-fruit candy; Gelato adds the cream and a light earthy base. Some plants show citrus or a faint nutty note as they cure.
Public profiles list beta-caryophyllene, limonene and linalool as the leading terpenes, with myrcene and pinene in some samples. That explains the bright, candy-sweet top over a soft, slightly peppery body.
The candy note is strongest when the flowers are freshly cured, and the creamy side keeps the profile from being too sharp. Customers who like sweet, fruity strains but find pure Zkittlez too tart often prefer White Runtz.
Plant traits
- Type: balanced hybrid, feminized photoperiod
- Lineage: Zkittlez × Gelato
- Flowering indoors: about 8–9 weeks
- Structure: medium height with dense, chunky colas
- Flowers: very frosty, almost white buds; purple tones are possible late in flower
- Training: topping and a trellis net help support heavy colas
White Runtz grows as a balanced hybrid with medium stretch after the switch to 12/12. Its chunky colas can get heavy, so a trellis net or stakes are useful. Steady airflow and moderate humidity in late flower protect the dense buds. Cooler nights near harvest can bring out purple shades under the frost.
Feminized seeds remove the need to sex plants, so every seed in a pack can go into production. Growers who find a phenotype they like can keep a mother plant and take cuttings to repeat it in later runs. Outdoors it performs best in warm, dry climates, as the dense colas need dry autumn weather to finish well.
Figures are breeder and grower references, not guarantees. Results depend on the environment and handling.
