Are cannabis seeds legal in Germany?
The Cannabis Act (CanG)
Germany's Cannabis Act took effect on 1 April 2024. Its consumer part, the Konsumcannabisgesetz (KCanG), lets adults grow up to three plants at home and keep up to 50 g of dried cannabis there. Non-profit cultivation associations have been allowed since 1 July 2024.
What the law says about seeds
Under § 4 KCanG, handling cannabis seeds is permitted as long as they are not intended for unauthorised cultivation. The Federal Ministry of Health confirms that seeds may be imported from EU member states for private home growing, and that buying online and shipping to Germany is allowed.
Why EU origin matters
The import rule only accepts seeds coming from inside the EU. Our stock is held in Spain and ships to Germany as an intra-EU delivery, so it never enters from a third country.
Reselling seeds inside Germany
Domestic resale by German shops is permitted in the view of most legal commentators, although at least one local authority has taken a stricter line. If you run a shop, ask your own lawyer how the rules apply to your business model.
What is changing
The government submitted the first evaluation reports on the law in October 2025 and April 2026, with a full evaluation due four years after it took effect. We review this page when the rules change.

Shipping bulk seeds to Germany
- Orders are packed and dispatched from our base in Spain. Germany is an intra-EU destination, so there are no customs forms, duties or import delays.
- Seeds travel in discreet, unbranded outer packaging, with tracking on every parcel.
- Most orders reach Germany within 3–5 days of dispatch. Shipping is free on orders from €1,000 net.
- We invoice net prices. Registered German businesses with a valid VAT ID (USt-IdNr.) can be invoiced under the EU reverse-charge scheme; we check your number in VIES when we approve your account.
Selling seeds in Germany
Germany is our most active market. Most of our German customers are online seed shops, grow shops and brands building their own catalogue.
Since home growing became legal, demand from end customers has shifted towards compact, predictable genetics. With a three-plant limit, many home growers choose autoflowering seeds for speed and feminized seeds to avoid male plants.
Shops that want their own label use our private label service: we fill and seal your branded packs, ready for the German shelf.
How to order from Germany
- Create an account with your company details. We approve accounts within 24–48 hours.
- Download the 2026 strain catalog and choose your mix. Packs of 100 seeds per strain, €500 net minimum.
- Receive your price list, confirm the order and pay by bank transfer.
- We dispatch from Spain with tracking.
