What is LA Runtz?
LA Runtz is a member of the Runtz family, the California candy line built on Zkittlez × Gelato. The name points to Los Angeles, where Runtz became one of the most hyped names in dispensaries. Strain libraries list LA Runtz as a Runtz variety but do not publish its exact parents.
Compared with the original Runtz, LA Runtz is described with more gas and tang on top of the candy. User reports often call it indica-leaning.
For seed shops, Runtz is one of the strongest names in the market. A second or third Runtz variety lets you offer choice inside a family customers already search for.
Aroma and terpene profile
Our lot smells of gassy candy, sweet earth and sour berry. Public profiles describe a lemony, gassy and funky nose with a tangy, fruity finish, which fits our lot. Lab data usually lists myrcene, linalool and limonene as the leading terpenes: myrcene for the earthy base, limonene for the tart top note and linalool for a soft, sweet edge.
When you list LA Runtz in your own shop, place it inside your Runtz family and lead with "gassy candy" and "sour berry". That helps customers see the difference from White Runtz or the original Runtz at a glance. Since the exact parents are not published, keep the lineage at the family level, as we do.
Plant traits
- Type: indica-leaning hybrid, feminized photoperiod
- Lineage: Runtz family; exact parents not published
- Flowering indoors: about 8–9 weeks, a typical range for Runtz lines
- Structure: medium height, compact, with dense buds
- Flowers: frosty buds; purple tones can appear when nights run cool
Growing notes for the feminized line. Feminized photoperiod seeds grow in vegetative phase until the light drops to 12 hours a day indoors, or until the days shorten outdoors. That gives the grower full control of plant size: a short veg for sea-of-green setups, a longer veg with topping and a screen for larger plants. The flowering weeks given above start from the switch to 12 hours of light. Outdoors in Southern Europe, photoperiod plants of this type are usually harvested in late September or October, depending on latitude and weather.
Figures are breeder and grower references, not guarantees. Results depend on the environment and handling.
